We are grateful to Mr. Florian Viegener for kindly providing additional information.

Eberhard Viegener, Kunsthalle Recklinghausen, Nov. 20, 1965-Jan. 9, 1966; Wilhelm-Morgner-Haus, Soest, Jan. 29-Feb. 27, 1966, cat. no. 13 (with color ill.). Die Landschaft in der Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts, Galerie Ludorff, Düsseldorf, May 1983, cat. no. 13 (with b/w ill.)

Wilhelm Steinheuser Collection, Recklinghausen. Galerie Ludorff, Düsseldorf. Private collection, Hesse (acquired from the above in 1983). In the family’s possession ever since

Overall, the painting is in good condition. The canvas is slightly wavy. There is overall craquelure and some flaking. The edges of the image show slight wear. Overall, there are professionally executed retouches, particularly in the area of the roof and the tree trunks on the left. This condition report was prepared to the best of my knowledge and belief, in daylight and with the aid of a UV light source.
