Zenon Texeira (British, 20th Century) Muhammad Ali (from Ali The Final Round), 2016 Two gelatin silver prints, one digital pigment print 17 x 13 inches (43.2 x 33.0 cm) (sight) Editioned 2/12 on plaque affixed to clamshell case. This lot is accompanied by a black canvas clamshell case with a front plaque that reads "Ali The Final Round, 14 March 2016, Toby Wosskow, Edition 2/12" Muhammad Ali's Last Photo Shoot. British photographer Zenon Texeira had the opportunity to capture Muhammad Ali's final photographs just weeks before the boxing legend passed away at a hospital in Phoenix. One of Texeira's portraits of the three-time world heavyweight champion appeared on the cover of the British tabloid newspaper, The Sun. According to Texeira, the photoshoot took place with the blessing of Ali's family. Gordon Smart, editor of The Sun's Monday edition, defended the decision to feature Texeira's photograph of Ali on the cover. "He lived his entire life in front of the camera, and his family wanted one final photoshoot, this is it ... It's the last picture in the story of his life played out in photojournalism," Smart said. Overall excellent condition. Sheets are flush mount to boards, preventing further inspection of their verso. Each framed under glass measuring 24 x 20. One not examined out of frame. Clamshell case in overall excellent condition with some bumping to the corners. Please note that due to their mountings in frames, sheets will not be able to fit in accompanying clamshell case.
