• Alongside his “Marilyn” prints, Warhol’s “Flowers” are among his icons of American Pop Art.
• The silkscreen paintings that preceded these prints were created in 1964 for Warhol’s first solo exhibition at the famous Leo Castelli Gallery in New York.
• Creative inspiration: The works are based on Patricia Caulfield’s photographs of hibiscus blossoms in the magazine “Modern Photography,” which Warhol transformed into legendary Pop Art motifs through his characteristic techniques.
• On the occasion of the exhibition at Leo Castelli in 1964, offset lithographs of the “Flowers” were published; a few years later, the famous silkscreen portfolio was published in an edition of 250 copies.

A vibrant, crisp print, in good condition. A few faint handling creases. The edges of the image are very slightly browned, and the orange and pink areas have faded slightly. The lower left edge of the sheet has a tiny tear. The upper edge of the sheet shows tiny printing marks. This condition report was compiled in daylight to the best of our knowledge and belief.
