As stated by the collector: "This Untitled artwork, by Trenton Doyle Hancock, was shown in his debut solo exhibition at the Gerald Peters Gallery in Dallas, which is when we acquired the piece. His artworks...have been very fresh with a variety of media, often raw, and laced with a commentary that ranges from humorous to very serious, and sometimes both. [Doyle] has always enjoyed seeing this piece when visiting our home many times since we purchased it in 1998. Without a doubt it is his work, and it is a drawing of his alter ego as "Torpedo Boy", which is represented by the red "T" on the shirt. Having been influenced heavily by artwork in comics, Trenton’s early drawings of Torpedo Boy shaped the narrative of his primary body of work. He undoubtedly had fun with this early piece and collaged a fried piece of chicken for the head. It was prior to any commercial interest in his artwork, so it has a wonderful sense of playfulness and exploration of incorporating various media.
